Thieves® was created based on research about four thieves in France who covered themselves with cloves, rosemary, and other aromatics while robbing plague victims. This proprietary essential oil blend was university tested for its cleansing abilities.
This blend of essential oils contains the following: Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus Globulus, Eucalyptus Radiata, and Rosemary. During a study conducted at Weber University in 1997, Thieves exhibited antibacterial effectiveness against airborne microorganisms by way of diffusion. Three of the oils in this blend have exhibited anti-viral properties.
